BASICS  OF  PHOTOGRAPHY

| ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

A good photograph is the one that communicates a fact, touches the heart, and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. Photography is an art, but not the kind which one can't ever learn. Because photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything with the way you see them. The basic objective behind this to help grow photography not only as a profession but also as a hobby and that too in the rightful manner. It's an attempt to provide correct guidelines to the ones who are passionate. And the definition for passionate for photography isn't restricted to the ones who own a DSLR hut to every single person who loves to click and want to learn.

I attended a 2 day photography workshop on Basics of Photography organized by Over The Ridge and Infinite Space. Abhishek Dhakate (AD) our mentor is a wonderful photographer and a very good teacher too. I went with a pretty basic understanding of photography and of a camera, that I have very limited experience using. I learned a lot from both the field workshop and the classroom session. What I liked more is his artistic approach towards photography and how one’s point of view can convey the story behind a picture. AD has the ability to teach the novice with patience and understanding is worth appreciating. He also tailored the teaching to our level of knowledge and exceptions.  AD regularly reviews students’ pictures and organizes field sessions; which is very important to enhance our skills and keep the interest intact. I’m looking forward to further workshops and I recommend his workshops to the photography enthusiasts.

Thanks, Abhishek, for teaching A, B, C...of photography. It is a difficult task to learn photography until you actually practice it. And you made it simple for us to understand the basics. At present, it would not be right on my part to judge the class as I am myself still a student. Yes, I would recommend my family and friends to come and learn photography from you. The next class should be in outdoors as you suggested early morning or evening so that we understand the concept of light better. preferably in Nagpur. And a small session at a PhotoStudio if possible should be arranged to understand the technical part.

There are times you feel, you need to learn new things to enhance your work, your passion and your over all personality!! I was doing pretty good as a home baker and my skill was getting me applause from all around the globe but I did realise that in today's age of social media and marketing on it needs to have beautifully photographed cakes for me to take my work to another level. As soon as I saw post of this workshop I knew i had to do this, and I m so glad I did! My perception of seeing things around me has really changed. Thanks to our Master Mentor AD for all the technical knowledge imparted so selflessly and making us understand how to use technique to achieve artistic goals! I hope you guys keep doing such workshops!! Thank you…

I was positive about the fact that a photography workshop would be a lot more interesting than a maths class, but I had no idea it would be so much fun to attend one.

I started clicking pictures about a month ago and most, if not all, of my best clicks were produced during this workshop. It was an absolutely awesome experience. Not once in these two days did I find a reason to slip a yawn. The atmosphere during sessions was always light and fun. All rules and techniques we were taught at the workshop were very helpful.

Before the workshop, I was of a mentality that anything which can be captured in a camera is a photograph. I went here, and listened to what AD had to say, and realised just how immense this field was- just how much there was to learn, and how diverse photographs could be. It helped me to expand my vision exponentially as a photographer.

I was made aware of the depth of photography as an entity of it's own. I got to learn a lot of new things while having fun at the same time. In my opinion, it was a great experience. If there's another workshop of this sort, I'm definitely signing up. Thank you.

It was a great learning experience with AD in this workshop. This workshop has indeed helped a lot to understand the technicalities of making an image like Aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Many of my doubts were cleared. All the Basics were very well explained by AD who put all of his efforts in making us understand the concepts. The Photo walk was a great experience for us and gave us an opportunity to try the concepts that we learned in the workshop. It also helped me to understand on how to deal with people when we are doing street photography and street portraits. Great mentor. Amazing knowledge shared. A 5 on 5 Workshop. Thank you Over The Ridge and AD For this workshop. Thank you.
